I kind of like the idea of having “the Shepard” as an icon of hope, but people scrambling just to make end meets. Who fills the power vacuum? What are the Blue sun Mercs up to? What happened to all this Reaper tech lying around? I’d love having someone like Garrus being the new admiral Hackett, or, if there is a Shepard, one that is suffering from PTSD and is more there as a mentor to a new set of characters (like Anderson) or a squad member where you have a series of loyalty missions to do. Lots of interesting possibilities.

I think he might just be reading into things a bit. Ones that stuck out for me (and I still own) are Armada II, Starfleet Command III, Elite Force, and Bridge Commander. Bridge Commander included real physics and balanced capital ship combat and had lots of re-playability in the simulation model. Then again, 2 kinda felt like fanfiction rather than a legit title. My favorite species were the hydrant, yet I don’t think they’re ever mentioned anywhere as being staunch allies of the federation. They don’t seem to exist at all in canon. My favorite self-mod was modding the NX class with ridiculously powerful pulse cannons (from the pilot episode) that dealt killer damage.
