Damn you panda. Damn you to hell! Man, seriously. Just calling it the “Federation” sounded so badass. Given Vince’s penchant for getting away from anything sounding “too” much like wrestling, I wonder if we would have eventually ended up with WWE anyway.

Haha well I’m only half kidding, but you are probably right. I am sure Vince has been wracking his brain for years on how he can get rid of wrestling from the company name. On the Spring Break-out 2000 show (two weeks before the April 10th reboot), he was chosen by Paisley from a group of 3 jobbers to face the cruiserweight champ, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea. In an upset victory, Modest won… but it was a non-title match. He disappeared again afterward until almost a year later when he showed up on Nitro to face Christopher Daniels. My mom who wasn’t a huge fan but knew the product well enough made me go up to him at WM18 fan access and have him autograph Mick Foleys Christmas book. He was “none too pleased” with the gesture but was funny and we loved it.
