John Dies at the End is the first of 3 books told in a very similar style to Jack’s story, comedy-horror (non-fiction, of course). If you’ve enjoyed Jack’s stuff so far I highly recommend David Wong’s stuff. In fact, Jack living in the same town as David would explain a LOT. The book is way better than the movie. The movie leaves out too many awesome details. I really enjoyed Odd Thomas also but the movie left me wanting so much more. The books are in my reading list though.

I had JUST been thinking that Jack’s descriptions of the town read a LOT like -undisclosed-! And now that I think about it, Jerry does remind me more than a little bit of John… I’m not emotionally ready for what’s about to come next but holy shit I’ll probably read it anyway. Jerry, weird but funny and sweet. Amy, as tough as a person can be and loyal to a fault. Vanessa, cool and laid back, one of the first to fall to the invasion. I can’t imagine them to be actually dead but as we saw after that fight, that is probably their fate. Finally Jack, our protagonist, Nobody can predict how this turns out but we hope for the love of all that is good and kind in this world, you survive. Could be because they found it, and are doing their best to make sure it never gets seen. Could also be because they started targeting and replacing readers. If that second one turns out to be the case, my bad.
